Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell is a Washington D.C.-based American TV journalist, anchor and anchor and. Mitchell graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a degree from the department of English literature. Mitchell started working as a TV and radio reporter for Philadelphia, KYW Radio and TV. In 1976, she joined the CBS-affiliate WDVM-TV in Washington DC (then WTOP). In Washington she was named general correspondent by NBC News two year later. 1981 she started covering at the White House, and in 1988 was named chief congressional correspondent. In 1992, she was made chief White House Correspondent and in 1994 chief foreign affairs reporter at NBC News. Mitchell was an anchor and a panelist on the TV news show Meet the Press. She was part of the panel during the 1988 Presidential Debates, which featured George Bush, and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell got married to Alan Greenspan the former chairman of Federal Reserve Board. In 2005, Mitchell was awarded the highly coveted Goldsmith Career Award for Excellence in Journalism from the John F. Kennedy School of Government and in 2004 in 2004, the Radio-Television News Directors Association (RTNDA) awarded Mitchell by awarding her the Leonard Zeidenberg Award in recognition of her contribution to the protection for First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell's initial White House coverage was for NBC News, between 1981-1988. It was a time when the two Ronald Reagan terms in office. Mitchell covered a number of noteworthy reports over the years, such as budget reform, tax reform and an investigation into the Iran Contra affair. She travelled frequently with Reagan and Mikhail Gorbachev to world summits.
